I am a registered speech and language therapist who runs Talking 2 Ltd as a sole trader. I am qualified to assess, diagnose and treat various speaking and communication disorders, whether the cause is physical or psychological, in children aged 2 to 15 years.
I offer services in speech and language therapy across my coverage area spanning a two-hour radius of Nottingham, where I am based. My therapeutic sessions can provide life-changing support for children in this age group who have difficulty speaking and communicating.
What is the difference between speech and language therapy?
While speech therapy helps with sounds and pronunciation of words linking to literacy with early reading and writing, language therapy is about helping the recipients to both find the right words to use and arrange them into grammatically correct sentences.
How can speech and language problems arise?
There can be various causes, both physical and psychological. Some difficulties result from birth trauma, brain injury or an accident. Warning signs of a speech or language problem in a child include a lack of eye contact or engagement and not responding to their name.
Why do I specialise in the 2-15 age group?
I have over 20 years’ experience of supporting children in classroom situations across the curriculum, with differentiated activities for classroom inclusion. I also know that early intervention to address a speech or language problem in a child can hugely help their self-esteem and confidence.
